The firemen come for a visit...

This afternoon, while dropping David off at a friend's so that Abigail and I could go to a doctor's appointment, I had one of those [blonde/Polish/mother of young children and my short term memory and ability to focus is shot] moments. I managed to lock the keys and Abigail -- and the spare key I always carry -- in the van. The car was running, so the A/C was on, and Abigail was watching a video and eating a Happy Meal -- she was happy as a clam! I have roadside assistance/lockout service, but because there was a child in the car, they made me call 911...so the older kids were all impressed that three firemen came in a big fire truck. The look on Abigail's face when she saw some strange guy peering through the window at her was priceless! All's well that ends well, I guess...I just feel particularly dumb about it! Abigail has a cold and is off to bed already, so Daddy and David are having some together time...something which has been scarce lately since Bruce has had so much work to do. I am thoroughly enjoying listening to them taking turns being doctor & patient...and listening to David's take on what a doctor says and does. He makes a pretty good "sick" face when it's his turn to be the patient, too! Bruce is trying to claim narcolepsy so that he can doze, but David isn't buying it -- he has declared Daddy to be "helpy" (healthy)!

It's good to see that Bruce is finally "helpy" after all the health troubles he's had in the past! I'll have to remember the narcolepsy idea...I've been looking for a good excuse to nap recently!
