Since we've been home...

...we've been busy unpacking and settling in, catching up on medical appointments (David got his cast off!...and had a hearing check...Abigail got her new leg brace...and got an ear infection), and harvesting/canning/freezing food.
Banana pepper harvest
Sweet potato harvest
First apple pie of the season (and apple butter bubbling away in the crockpot...I also made and froze a LOT of applesauce but forgot to take any pictures!)

We've also been enjoying the summery rain.

The cats are happy to have us home again...Mindy follows us all around the house with a very contented look on her face!

Our vacation in New York

In New York we stayed with my grandparents and enjoyed a week and a half of family, friends, and lovely fall weather.  Here are some of the highlights...
O'Gorman family (my mom's family) get-together
Minota (my dad's family) women get-together (minus two who were missing)
 Apple picking

A visit with my great-aunts (my grandma's sisters)
 Relaxing time with family

Sewing time! (this is my grandma's completed Christmas wallhanging and my "in the works" Christmas quilt)
My friend Sarah's wedding
Me, Sarah, and Shannon -- we started kindergarten together!
Somewhere in there, Bruce had to fly home and work, so the kids and I made the trek home together.  The colors at this rest stop in Ohio were lovely.
We had a wonderful trip!!!

Moving on...

...to part two of vacation!  We said good-bye to Myrtle Beach by watching the sunrise together (even Bruce!)...

...then we drove up to Maryland to visit one of Bruce's sisters and her family.  We not only got to enjoy time with extended family, we also got to take the kids to DC for their first time.  Monday we visited the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum and the front of the White House.

On Tuesday we were able to take two of Karyn's kids with us and we visited the Washington Monument, the WWII Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, the Vietnam Wall, and the back of the White House.
My kids in front of the NYS pillar in honor of my Grandpa Minota, who fought in WWII in the Atlantic theatre.
I love this picture of the girls!
We had a wonderful visit...the kids especially loved the time with their cousins. Thanks to Rick, Karyn, and crew for a great visit and for their gracious hospitality!
After two such fun-filled days, the kids were tired out...on the way from Maryland to New York, they sacked out!  Abigail just rested, but David was sound asleep...resting up on the way to more adventures!!!
