We did not start back to school on Monday as planned...instead, we were bums most of the week!
Nice things about being sick: staying home, extra rest, snuggling under a warm blanket, extra cat time, Grandma-socks...and a good Marselhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16820610987108890093noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35406642.post-22731689758310246682017-01-08T18:26:00.000-05:002017-01-08T18:35:54.552-05:00January 2017 ~ week 1 Hello from a country that has been long unheard from -- I have decided to try out posting on my blog again...we shall see how it goes.
We started the new year with a whole week of school break ahead of us. Abigail and I got out one of our favorite movie snacks (while we watched some Pride and Prejudice) -- chips and cream cheese!
Mindy enjoyed one of the new Christmas toys...Marselhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16820610987108890093noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35406642.post-73471159094192614122014-08-21T08:54:00.005-04:002014-08-21T08:56:21.038-04:00Girl + Horse = Bliss
This week we had a big milestone moment...
Abigail had her very first horseback riding lesson!
This was a very long-anticipated moment and she was just glowing...
it was wonderful.
I was a horse-crazy girl back in my day, too, and still remember how the dream --
and the fulfillment of it -- felt, and it was so much fun to watch it happen with my daughter!

I am finding yet more obstacles to good blogging...as the kids get older, I am doing more participating with them in activities and less watching, which means fewer pictures. I have also graduated to a smartphone now, so it's so much easier to just snap aMarselhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16820610987108890093noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35406642.post-12669565714026061452014-04-07T09:33:00.000-04:002014-04-07T09:33:05.164-04:00Our week ~ March 31
This week started out with Abigail feeling under the weather...thankfully she was back on her feet in time for her sleepover birthday party! Her theme this year was rainbows and unicorns, so I had a blast planning details accordingly.
For dinner Friday evening, we had rainbow pasta and rainbow bread...
...and for dessert, a simple cake
that had a surprise inside!

Life has been (as I'm sure you can guess) trucking along at top-speed.
A few highlights from our week...
A freak snowstorm that lasted about ten or fifteen minutes,
and the sun was brightly shining the whole time!
We had our first "subject finished for the school year" celebration, complete with throwing away of used-up textbooks (spelling is done for this year)!
Today after church, Marselhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12025093407118233084noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35406642.post-32799662775299010402014-01-30T12:40:00.000-05:002014-01-30T12:43:39.253-05:00January 2014Well, here I am again, having skipped a blogging chunk but picking it up now rather than dragging around the weight of too many missed weeks!
Our January started out in a very unusual way...all four of us were sick with the flu, which was our shared "Christmas gift" from our family Christmas in Florida at my parents' -- most of us got it over the course of the week spent together. We had a rather uneventful week (and just for the record -- we LIKE those kinds of weeks a lot!).
Here is Abigail with cast #3 of the serial casting she is having done to help straighten out her foot. (She will need surgery eventually, but they hope to hold off on that until she has done most of her growing. The Botox, casting, and leg brace will help to 'tide her over' until surgery.&Marselhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12025093407118233084noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35406642.post-5349136977667376382013-11-15T11:11:00.000-05:002013-11-15T11:11:30.575-05:00Our weeks ~ October 21, October 28, & November 4
Our weeks have been full of many things...
Beautiful autumn colors (this is in our backyard)
Abigail's second round of Botox on her left leg (see her faithful nurse?)
Adorable cats who entertain us by playing in catnip, jumping windows in pursuit of insects, watching the printer in fascination, and (best of all!) snuggling

We are trucking away at school and have completed well over 1/4 of our school year! We are currently working on fractions and decimals, parts of speech, ancient Egyptian history, spelling words that have the Latin roots "mit" and "medi", and cell theory (our current Marselhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12025093407118233084noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35406642.post-85637860133244049812013-10-19T06:56:00.000-04:002013-11-15T08:37:46.049-05:00Our weeks ~ September 23 & 30 and October 7
During these weeks, we made a trip north to visit family and attend a family wedding. My picture-taking wasn't so great, but the trip itself was wonderful! We shared lots of laughs and adventures and have lots of happy memories of our time together.
On our way to NY, we stopped in NC to visit Bruce's parents and his aunt, who was visiting (and I forgot to take a picture), then we Marselhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12025093407118233084noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35406642.post-76713201969093643172013-08-27T11:43:00.000-04:002013-08-27T11:44:53.257-04:00Our week ~ August 19
Pictures were few and far between this week, but we managed to grab a few!
We got a very short but sweet visit from Matthew, Ashley, and Will as they drove back to Florida from a trip to New England. They were here just long enough for us to see Will crawl and sneak in a few kisses on his chubby little cheeks. :)
Piano lessons started up again after a summer hiatus. The kids haveMarselhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12025093407118233084noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35406642.post-4925342466964753632013-08-22T15:35:00.002-04:002013-08-22T15:37:01.377-04:00Our weeks ~ August 5 & 12
As this month flies by, we have been keeping up a frenzied pace...when we are not in school or at an appointment, we have been working at our new church building, getting it ready for occupation. We are on the homestretch now, though, so we are very excited! It has been fun for the kids to be involved, too. Here I am with my painting crew. :) (David was on a different crew thatMarselhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12025093407118233084noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35406642.post-79757864620829365742013-08-03T07:08:00.002-04:002013-08-03T07:13:01.366-04:00Our weeks ~ July 22 & July 29
These two weeks are going to be posted together because our big event the week of July 22 was followed up with a zillion supporting pictures the week of July 29! :)
What is cuter than a kitten?
Two kittens!
Yes, we adopted two kittens! They are Manx cats (they are born with a bobtail). Meet Felix (black and white) and his sister, Trixie (tawny tiger stripe)! This week began our countdown for the last two weeks of summer break. Mindy and I worked hard to get the school area all cleaned out, reorganized, and ready for a new school year.
David got his golf clubs all cleaned and ready for some autumn golf games.
Abigail squeezed in as many pajama days as she could, as well as some art project time.

The cats were very happy to have us home for another whole week instead of watching us repack suitcases and take off again. :)
I am thankful for creative kids, especially during times like these last couple of weeks, when we have continued to have lots of rain. They've been crawling the walls a bit without their usual outdoor play every day, but it could be a lot worse! This week Marselhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12025093407118233084noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35406642.post-51294605478424995072013-07-07T18:40:00.000-04:002013-07-07T21:38:15.145-04:00Our week ~ July 1
I feel rather like this was our first week of summer vacation! Our traveling is over for the time being, so I spent most of the week doing the things that I usually do the first week of summer vacation -- cleaning up and cleaning OUT! Corners that have collected clutter, piles of stuff that have magically appeared and grown...all of the places neglected during the frantically-busy Marselhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12025093407118233084noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35406642.post-64904521973544770012013-07-07T18:39:00.000-04:002013-07-08T13:02:23.151-04:00Our week ~ June 24 (summer camp at the Wilds!)As has become our tradition, we took our church's junior campers to The Wilds summer camp this year. Something new for us this year, though, was that BOTH of our kids went as campers! (YIKES...serious growing pains for this mom!) This was the first year that Abigail was old enough to go and she was so very excited...she has heard David gush about camp for two years now and she was Marselhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12025093407118233084noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35406642.post-42259963568208054572013-07-07T18:38:00.000-04:002013-07-08T13:02:42.867-04:00Our week ~ June...well...more like whole the month of June!
The month of June was a whirlwind...a wonderful one, but hard to keep up with!
We managed to sneak in a day with Karen and her kids. We enjoyed watching a professional juggler at our local library.
Karen was concerned that the baby might not sit still happily, but she was just as enthralled as the big kids were!

David had a very happy birthday! Here he is with his sister and his "morning present" from her.

We have never cut her hair -- only trimmed it an inch or two twice a year -- so this was a big decision! She has been deliberating for months, but once her mind was made up, she could hardly wait to get it done, so we headed out Monday afternoon for her big event.

We were surprised to see snow in the air the morning of March 25th...it flurried off and on all day, then picked up late in the day.
We woke up March 26th to a dusting of snow. We have lived down here almost ten years now and have never seen snow this late in the spring!
