Making cakes

I have dabbled in cake decorating ever since David's first birthday and have managed to teach myself the basics...enough to make my kids' birthday cakes each year (see past posts under 'cake decorating').  This past October, though, my friend Karen treated me to a cake-decorating class at Michael's, and we so enjoyed the first class that we took the second one in November!  We have hopes for taking the third and fourth classes sometime in the not-too-distant future.

Here is the 'finale cake' for our second class...I finally learned how to make Wilton flowers, a skill I have long desired.

And here is the cake that I made in December for a baby shower for one of our ladies at church.

I watch different cake competitions and am always so impressed. What a wonderful talent to have. The flowers are really pretty.
