End of the schoolyear celebration

Last night we took the kids to Medieval Times to celebrate all of our hard work during the school year.  The show was magnificent, the dinner was great, and the kids were fascinated.  It was a wonderful night!!!
The kids were impressed from the minute they spotted the castle.
We were assigned to the red knight's cheering section -- and he turned out to be the tournament champion and the hero who saved the prince from the bad guy, which made it even more fun for the kids!  They both got into it, waving their red flags and yelling loudly to cheer on our knight.  As you can imagine, David was quite enthralled by the swordplay and by all of the medieval weapons used in the tournament!

The crowning moment of the whole thing was during the tournament when our knight rode his horse over and chose Abigail to be his "Queen of Love and Beauty" -- he held his lance out to her to give her the red sash from the end of it, and the look on her face was the best moment of the whole night!  Afterwards, she got to meet him, get his autograph, and have her picture taken with him.  He was very sweet to her and she glowed like any princess would. :)
And if all of that wasn't enough excitement, the kids also got their Certificates of Promotion -- David has been promoted to fourth grade and Abigail has been promoted to second grade!

Now you see it...

 ...now you don't.
(...and no, I wasn't grouchy, just tired!)
I love a light, off-of-my-neck summer cut!  C'mon, summer break!!!

The right man for the job

A new phase has begun at our house...David is now officially in charge of edging and blowing.  We had to work together to get the edger running smoothly -- look at how worn down that old blade was!  He enjoyed the chance for him and me to work together with tools, WD40, and even a trip to Ace Hardware.
He is such a good worker...
...and it is WONDERFUL to have a son old enough and strong enough to help with the yardwork!
Now he's trying to talk us into letting him buy a jackknife and do the mowing by himself.  One thing at a time, my boy. :)

Being a mom...

...is one of the greatest blessings in my life!  I am so thankful for the privilege of mothering my two precious children.
I am also thankful for the moms in my life -- happy Mother's Day to my mom, mom-in-law, and grandma!
